Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci was born on the 12th of November, 1961 within Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast. She has the record of being recognized with 10/10 scores during an Olympic performance. Bela Karrolyi, the Romanian gymnastics instructor who later became her coach in later years, discovered her at age six. The year 1969 was the first time she took part at the Romanian Junior Championships where she placed 13th. She won in 1970. In her 1972 first international event, which was a preolympics junior competition for nations in the Communist bloc, she was awarded three gold medals. In 1973 and 1975 she was crowned all-around Junior Champion. In her very first competition at a senior level Lyudmila Turkishcheva from Russia took home five gold medals as well as one silver. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976 and became the first woman in history to complete a backward double salto as an unmounting from uneven parallel bars. Carol Marie Wayne was born on the 6th of September 1942 at Chicago Illinois US. Carol began her career as an entertainer when she was a teenager. Her career began by joining her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling show of entertainment. It featured dramatic ice-skating shows.
